Alleged ex-con shot dead Niña G.
CEBU, Philippines - An alleged ex-convict was shot dead along C. Padilla St., Barangay Duljo-Fatima yesterday afternoon.
Police identified the fatality as Reynato Lauron, 52, a resident of the place, and the alleged assailant as one Marlon Dandan, a resident of Sitio Maganda, in the nearby Barangay Mambaling, who managed to escape after the incident.
Based on the investigation by Homicide Section police, Lauron was sitting at a bridge in C. Padilla St. at 4 p.m. yesterday when the suspect approached and suddenly shot him several times at close range.
The victim was no longer taken to the hospital as he died immediately of three gunshot wounds to the body, said SPO3 Rey Cuyos.
The alleged assailant, who was identified by some witnesses, was quick to flee from the area.
Police searched for him in his house in Sitio Maganda, but the alleged assailant was no longer there.
Cuyos said they are eyeing illegal drugs as the motive behind the attack on Lauron. Lauron has allegedly been charged for illegal drugs and robbery. —(FREEMAN)
