1 dead, 3 hurt in accidents
CEBU, Philippines - One person died while three injured in separate vehicular accidents in Dumanjug town and Toledo City involving motorcycles.
In Dumanjug town, a 19-year-old motorcycle driver died after his motorcycle collided with a tricycle on the National Highway in Barangay Ilaya, past 5:30 p.m. last Thursday.
Roel Ybañez, a resident of Barangay Kantangkas, was on board his Rusi motorcycle with license plate numbers 3267GN from Barangay Poblacion heading towards Barangay Tapon when the incident happened.
Norberto Aleo, 62, and resident of the said place, was also driving his trisikad and was traveling in the opposite direction at that time.
PO3 Dionisio Tagupa, desk officer, said the motorcycle was traveling at high speed when Ybañez lose control of the motorcycle and collided with the tricycle.
“Ga-testing man kuno na siya (Ybañez) kay bag-o kuno ug carborador unya kusog gyud kuno kaayo og padagan,†Tagupa said.
The victims were rushed to the Barili District Hospital but, Ybañez was declared dead on arrival by the doctor.
Aleo was referred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
Meanwhile, Norwegian Jan Ture Johansen, 64, temporarily residing in Barangay Tajao, Pinamungajan town and two others were injured in a vehicular accident past 3:50 p.m. on the National Highway in Barangay Poblacion, Toledo City, last Wednesday.
Johansen was driving his Yamaha motorcycle with license plate numbers 9832-YA towards the said barangay when the motorcycle accidentally hit the tricycle driven by Jorge Consolacion, 22, of Barangay Bato.
Due to the impact, Consolacion hit a pedestrian Marlyn Mechanova, 45, of Barangay Poblacion, who was standing along the road at that time.
The victims suffered injuries in different parts of their bodies and were taken to the Toledo City Hospital for treatment.
Of the three, only Johansen was referred to a hospital in Cebu City for further treatment. (FREEMAN)
