CEBU, Philippines - The National Grid Corp of the Philippines (NGCP)-Cebu restored power transmission service in 17 southern Cebu towns after completing the repair activity at the Naga substation.
Customers of CEBECO I franchise area experienced brownout from 6:14 pm to 8:00 pm the other day after NGCP implemented a manual load curtailment due to a technical problem encountered at the substation.
NGCP corporate communications and public affairs officer Elmer Cruz said that the transformer in Naga was under scheduled maintenance.
Cruz added that before power was restored, a minor technical problem was encountered. This prompted the NGCP personnel to do a series of tests and simulations to ensure reliability of the equipment, he said.
The municipalities affected in the second district were Argao, Boljoon, Dumanjug, Moalboal, Samboan, Alcantara, Badian, Ginatilan, Oslob, Santander, Alegria, Dalaguete, Malabuyoc, Ronda.
First district areas affected were Carcar and Sibonga, and Barili in the third district.
Meanwhile, NGCP has also restored power transmission service in northern Cebu after a power outage.
Portions of CEBECO II franchise area were affected by the outage from 5:40 a.m. to 7:41 a.m. the other day due to the tripping of the transformer at the Lugo substation. — /JPM (FREEMAN)
