Magpale retains PB chairmanship
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Vice Governor Agnes Magpale has retained the chairmanship of the Provincial Board committees she headed when she was still a PB member.
These include the committee on tourism and international affairs; and the committee on women, family and minors.
Magpale has submitted draft of the committee chairmanships after she was given authority by the PB to designate the positions last Monday.
She has been actively involved in the tourism promotions and activities in the Province of Cebu and even hired former Department of Tourism-7 regional director Patria Aurora Roa as consultant under her office when she assumed as acting governor last December and until at present.
Magpale was also actively involved in the activities of the Provincial Women’s Commission and the Provincial Commission on the Welfare of Children.
These include the prosecution against persons involved in the cybersex crimes and trafficking.
As presiding officer, Magpale automatically becomes a member of the different committees.
In the first regular session on Monday, the PB is set to approve the designation of the different committee chairmanships.
PB Member Aleigh Jay Sitoy will also be retained as majority floor leader while his assistant is Board Member Jude Thaddeus Sybico.
Sitoy will also chair the committee on differently-abled persons as well as the commitee on complaints and investigations while Sybico will chair the committee on information and communications technology, and cooperatives.
Neophyte board members will get major committees such as Engr. Grecilda Sanchez who will handle the committee on budget and appropriations, and provincial and municipal properties; Christopher Baricuatro for the committee on public works, highways and infrastructure; and commerce and industry while Raul Alcoseba will chair the committee on public services, and senior citizens.
Board Member Julian Daan will chair the committee on public affairs and information whil board member Peter John Calderon will take charge of the committees on public health and social welfare, and education.
Board Members Alex Binghay will head the committee on agriculture and livelihood; Joven Mondigo Jr. on laws and review of ordinances; and Sun Shimura on public safety, peace and order, and accreditation.
Board Member Miguel Antonio Magpale will handle the committees on planning and development as well as arts and culture while board member Thadeo Ouano will head the committee on environmental conservation and natural resources, and ways and means.
PB Members Jose Ribomapil Holganza Jr. will chair the committee on barangay affairs and rural development. human rights and labor; Carmen Remedios Meca on ethics, dangerous drug abuse and prevention; and Aladin Wilyamie Caminero on youth and sports development. (FREEMAN)
