45 barangay captains elected to higher posts

CEBU, Philippines - There are 45 barangay captains, 10 of them are presidents of the  Association of Barangay Councils (ABC), in the Province of Cebu that were elected to higher office in the last May 13 elections.

Two ABC presidents and one barangay captain were elected as vice mayors in their respective municipality and will be assume office at noontime of June 30.

They are Allan Arquillano of San Francisco, Greman Solante of Tudela and Poblacion barangay captain Floreto Batayola of Madridejos.

Other ABC presidents who were elected as councilors are Jose Brainard Mayol of Bogo City, Leo Salundaguit of Liloan, Doroteo Dorimon of Madridejos, Virgilio Chiong of Naga City, Nenita Filosofo of Oslob, Condrado Loon of San Remigio, Juanito Puspus of Santander, and Rivardo Vanguardia of Sogod.

The barangay captains who were elected as councilors are Pedpab Tapales of Poblacion, Alcantara; Arnold Cuevas of Sta. Felomina, Alegria; Dana Andrew Dumdum of Poblacion and Reine Yaras of San Isidro, all of Asturias; Genaro Belarmino of Dagatan and Doris Miñoza of Banhigan, all of Badian; Primo Paulin of Arpili, Balamban; Danilo Despi of Ticad, Bantayan; Edward Paul Caumeran of Poblacion, Barili; Marlito Oporto of Banban, Bogo City.

Beven Recamadas of Catmondaan, Catmon; Mario Paradiang of Cabadiangan, Feljur Quiño of Basak and Glenn Villaceran of Canamucan, all of Compostela; Erwin Gica of Poblacion Sima, Dumanjug; Ned Duterte of Cambagte and Walter Tocao of San Roque, all of Ginatilan; Vidal Cañete of Poblacion, Liloan; Artemio Noynay of Curva and Roberto Orbiso of Kawit, all of Medellin.

Cornelio Gonesto of Gawi and Rodrigo Sabandal of Poblacion, in Oslob; Reynaldo Calumpag of Villahermosa, Pilar; Julius Erwin Alpas of Mangoto, Richard Canillo of Sacsac, Maria Flores Cantero of Lamac and Benito Fernandez of Tanibag, all of Pinamungajan; Reza Borlasa of Eastern Poblacion, Poro; Eduardo Anjao of Jumangpas and Zosimo Catubig of Dalahikan, all of Samboan; Al Arnado of Takay, Sogod; Doroteo Emit of Pooc, Talisay City, Phoebe Potencioso of Bagasawe, Tuburan and Arnito Yamas of Puertobello, Tudela.

ABC Provincial Federation president, Board Member Jose Ribomapil Holganza Jr., led yesterday the recognition of his members during the general assembly of the Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB)– Cebu Province Chapter.

During the said assembly, they passed a resolution requesting the LnB National Executive Board to confirm the ten Liga Vice Presidents who will assume office as president of the league effective July 1 following the election to higher office of their respective presidents.

Holganza explained that the vice presidents cannot automatically assume office unless they are confirmed by the national executive board. (FREEMAN)
