Wakee posts bail, released
CEBU, Philippines - Boxing promoter Wakee Salud was released after posting bail of P6,000 for the perjury case filed against him by Cordova Mayor Adelino Sitoy.
The release order was issued on June 13 by Lapu-Lapu City Municipal Trial Court Judge Allan Francisco Garciano.
To avoid cancellation of the bail, Salud had to attend the arraignment of the case and promulgation of judgment and whenever the court requires his presence, as well as present personal information stating his complete address in Barangay Cogon, Cordova accompanied by a recent photograph.
The arraignment is set on June 24 at 8:30 a.m. and his failure to attend would mean waving his right to be present, hence, the trial may proceed despite his absence.
An arrest warrant was issued against Salud on June 3, 2013 after Sitoy filed perjury charges against him.
Salud attempted to run for mayor of Cordova town but was disqualified by the Commission on Election (Comelec) en banc in January this year for failing to prove his transfer of residence from Punta Princesa, Cebu City to Cordova town.
Sitoy then filed two counts of perjury against Salud for allegedly providing false information in his Certificate of Candidacy filed on October 4, 2012.
He earlier claimed to be a resident of Barangay Cogon, Cordova for a year and six months through a property lease from a house owned by Marcosa Dinoy. — (FREEMAN)
