Man stabbed dead by nephews

CEBU, Philippines - A 49-year-old man, who was reportedly drunk, was stabbed to death by his two nephews Saturday in Sitio Paradise, Barangay Looc, Mandaue City.

Rolando Nanoy died on the spot due to several stab wounds in his abdomen.

Investigation revealed that Rolando arrived home drunk, took a bolo and immediately went to the house of Sonny Marangga, 24, past at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Without provocation, he allegedly hacked Marangga, who was standing outside his house, hitting him in the right leg.

Injured Marangga took a knife from the kitchen and chased Rolando.

Zaldy Nanoy, 20, Marangga's relative, saw the incident and allegedly mauled Rolando while  Marangga stabbed the victim repeatedly

“Mura'g na-corner na ni si Marangga unya gitabangan ni Zaldy,”  PO1Alfie Sabuero of the Investigation and Detective Management Branch said of the Mandaue City Police Office said.

He added personal grudge may have pushed Rolando to hack Marangga although they are yet to conduct further investigation.

Sabuero added Marangga was taken to the Vicente Sotto Memorial

Medical Center while Rolando was brought to the Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes.

Zaldy voluntarily surrendered to the police and is now detained at the police stockade pending filing of criminal case in court against him and Marangga. — (FREEMAN)
