Ria Mae Y. Booc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A 19-year-old deaf-mute was allegedly gang-raped in Tuburan yesterday morning.

The suspects who were identified as Ronald Gulani, 18, Wilbert Molit, 23, and Joseph Anthony Bitoonan, 19, were immediately arrested by the police.

The victim attended a benefit dance in Barangay Dos together with her cousin when the alleged rape happened. The suspects invited the victim to join in their drinking session but the latter refused.

SPO4 Carlo Canseko said that while the victim did not drink she still join the group and eat with them.

Canseko said the victim was left by her cousin who went home ahead as the latter had another invitation from a friend. The suspects reportedly took advantage of it and raped the victim.

The victim told the police that Bitoonan and Gulani took turns in raping her while Molit held her legs.

The victim sought the help of two concerned citizens who informed a member of the Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU). The CAFGU member took the victim to the police station.

A hot pursuit operation was conducted resulting in the arrest of the suspects.  (FREEMAN)
