Agency dismisses Gwen’s ex-escort

Ria Mae Y. Booc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The former private escort of suspended Governor Gwendolyn Garcia was dismissed from the GGC Security Agency for hitting a cop last week.

Noel Labiaga appeared at the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB)  Thursday morning and asked if he could work as an agent of the said unit after he was dismissed from the security agency last week.

But, intelligence operatives turned him down as they are not authorized to hire men.

Aside from that, Labiaga also apologized to PO3 Roderick Balili and pleaded if Balili could only file one case, instead of two, against him.

But Balili explained that the complaints were already filed at the fiscal’s office.

Charges of slander by deed and resisting arrest to an agent of person in authority were filed against Labiaga.  Labiaga, however, posted bail for his temporary liberty.

Labiaga was arrested by Balili last Tuesday for hitting him in the forehead along the road in Barangay Capitol Site, Cebu City.

Balili was driving a Kia van (SGW 419) with Sr. Insp. Leo Logronio, deputy chief of the PIB, to attend the Metro Cebu Intelligence Conference at the Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 when Labiaga who was driving his Racal motorcycle with ‘for registration’ swerved closer to the van.

Thinking that it was somebody he knew, Balili stopped and opened the window of the van to check but Labiaga suddenly hit him in the forehead.

Balili got irked and introduced himself as a police officer. He then handcuffed Labiaga and took him to the PIB office.  Balili said the incident should serve as a warning to others.

“This should serve as a lesson that one has to face the consequences of his act,” Balili said adding that experience is the best teacher. — (FREEMAN)
