Rama donates fire truck to Brgy Punta

Rene U. Borromeo - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama donated a mini-fire truck to Barangay Punta Princesa to respond to fire emergencies in the thickly populated barangay.

The donation of the P700,000-worth fire truck was made three days after Rama was given a fresh mandate by the people. The fire equipment was purchased thru the Priority Development Assistance Fund of then South District Rep. Antonio Cuenco.

Barangay Captain Jose Navarro said he was happy of the donation saying that he had requested for it long time ago. It was not known why the purchase was delayed when it has been allocated funds during Cuenco’s term.

“Nagtoo ko nga wala na kini nga project apan nalipay ko nga naaprobahan g’yud diay mao nga akong gi-follow up,” said Navarro.

Navarro said the fire truck will not only help his own barangay but the adjacent barangays as well.

Rama also announced earlier that the city government will soon acquire a second hand fire truck from its sister city in South Korea. The officials of Yeosu City have promised to donate a fire truck to Cebu City.— /FPL (FREEMAN)
