ANAD accuses Bogo task force of harassment

CEBU, Philippines - The congressman and members of the Alliance for Nationalism and Democracy (ANAD) partylist cried political harassment allegedly done by members of the City of Bogo Anti-Crime Task Force (CBACTAF).

“We were there yesterday. Gisigihan mi nila og harang,” said ANAD party-list congressman Pastor Alcover. (They blocked our way.)

Alcover said that the acts of these CBACTAF members are tantamount to political harassment.

“Ang ako-ang panawagan ni Junie Martinez nga unta musugot na siya nga mag peace covenant sa iyang lugar. Makaduda gyud hinoon ug unsa iyang motive nganong di man siya gusto ug peace covenant. Everybody wants peace. Uyon kaayo ta anang peace covenant,” Alcover said. (I call on Junie Martinez to agree to a peace covenant for his city. His rejection of the proposal makes us wonder what is his motive in junking it.)

Martinez, the incumbent mayor of Bogo, has refused to sign a peace covenant as earlier proposed by mayoralty candidate Daphne Salimbangon.

Martinez had said that the signing of peace covenant is nothing but a “pakitang-tao” or all for show.

Alcover said the refusal of Martinez to enter into a peace covenant is something very suspicious.

“My appeal to Junie, let democracy prevail in Bogo City. Kang Junie man na ang CBACTAF, angayan nga iyaha nang buyagon nga mga tawhana kay kami nangampanya ra mi sa Bogo, dili mi mga goons,” Alcover added. (The CBACTAF is under him so he should tell its members to stop harassing us because we are just campaigning.)

Earlier, Martinez pointed out the presence of ANAD members in the city. These men, he said, are not doing anything but “just kept on roaming around”.

Alcover defended that they are a partylist group whose main base or bailiwick is the fourth district where Bogo City is part of.

“We are campaigning not just in Bogo but in the province and in the entire country. Dili sila dapat mahibung nganong mangampanya mi sa Bogo. Magbuot diay sila?,” said Alcover.

Martinez had said that ANAD is an ally of Cebu Fourth District Representative Benhur

Salimbangon, who is running against his son, former mayor and congressman Celestino “Tining” Martinez III.

Daphne, daughter of the incumbent congressman, is running against the incumbent mayor. - /JPM  (FREEMAN)
