CEBU, Philippines - At least 50-percent of the public transport sector in Cebu is supporting the Joint Alliance of Marginalized Groups (1-JAMG) Party-list.

JAMG coordinator in Central Visayas Ryan Benjamin Yu said that among the transport groups that are supporting them is Cebu Integrated Transport Service Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CITRASCO); Alyansa sa Nagkahiusang Draybers-Operators Alang sa Reporma (ANDAR); and the mini bus and v-hire drivers and operators in northern Cebu.

Yu said that the CITRASCO alone has 2,000 member drivers while ANDAR has about 3,000 membership. The v-hire drivers and operators in the north have at least 500 members.

Yu denied reports that CITRASCO is supporting the Trade Union Congress Party in the Party-list elections.

“Dili na tinuod kay we are supporting 1-JAMG (It’s not true because we are supporting 1-JAMG),” said Yu.

Yu said that 1-JAMG Party-list is advocating for reforms in the agricultural sector to ensure an efficient/maximized produce as well as reforms in the public land transport sector for the betterment of services rendered and upliftment of the way of life of the stakeholders.

The said party-list also advocates for the strengthening of the cooperatives and other micro-entrepreneurs to encourage self-help, self-reliance in order to achieve a more progressive life.

Yu added that they have an existing program wherein a card-bearing member will be able to avail of the services like hospitalization assistance, medicine assistance and burial assistance. (FREEMAN)
