City to get fire truck donation from Yeosu
CEBU, Philippines - A second-hand fire truck will soon be added to the firefighting assets of the Cebu City government following the city council’s approval of a resolution granting Mayor Michael Rama the authority to receive donation from Yeosu City in South Korea.
Rama said Yeosu City Mayor Kim Chung-seog is donating one second-hand fire truck to Cebu City under the two cities sisterhood agreement. The fire truck that Yeosu is donating was acquired by them in 1996.
Rama said that Yeosu bought brand new fire trucks and decided to donate the old ones to its sister cities and Cebu is one of them.
Yeosu City is one of several foreign cities that Cebu have “sister city relationshipsâ€.
Two months ago, the city also availed of a brand new Rosenbauer TLF 4,000 fire truck from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to enhance its firefighting capability.
Cebu City fire marshal William Tacaldo said the fire department still needs more equipment like fire trucks that have high-rise building capabilities. (FREEMAN)
