2 blasts rock cop’s house
CEBU, Philippines - Two explosions rocked the house of a policeman in Barangay Tominhao, Daanbantayan shortly after midnight yesterday.
No one was hurt in the incident but the perimeter fence and the sari-sari store of SPO1 Mamerto Gastador were damaged. Police investigators believe there were two to three people responsible in throwing improvised dynamites at Gastador's house.
The police officer was not around when the incident happened. He was in Cebu City attending to important matters. His family was sleeping inside the house when the two explosions happened 10 to 15 minutes apart.
Police investigators failed to recover any evidence at the scene. But Gastador believes that the people responsible could be those whom he arrested for illegal drugs before.
"Sa akong tan-aw lang ani posible dinakpan sa una nga nakagawas nga nanghadlok aron akong ihunong ang among kampanya sa drugas ," Gastador told The FREEMAN.
Gastador admitted receiving threats through text message prior to the incident.
Meanwhile, a British national lost about P130,000 worth of valuables to lone robber in Barangay Daanlungsod, Medellin last Monday.
Christopher John Tooley, 55, married to a Filipina, was also injured in the face when the robber hit him with a hard object.
Among the items stolen were an Italian gold bracelet, necklace, cellphone and wallet containing important documents.
SPO2 Jerson Valles said they already have the identity of the robber but refused to divulge his name because of an ongoing hot pursuit operation. The suspect broke into the house by scaling the perimeter fence and gained entrance at the back window of the house.
The victim and his wife, Frelyn Perez Tooley, who were sleeping at the time were awaken when the suspect entered the masters' bedroom. The suspect hit the victim in the face before leaving the house with his loots.— (FREEMAN)
