Woman arrested for hurting partner

Niña G. Sumacot-Abenoja - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A woman reported to the police station that his live-in partner tried to hurt him, but it was she who got arrested instead after police found out she sent him to the hospital with a stab wound.

Security guard Rommel Caballero, 39, landed at the hospital after he was stabbed by his live-in-partner Necitas Mier, who accused him of theft, last Monday night in Barangay Tinago.

Caballero, who is employed under Pyramid Security Agency, alleged to police that he was at his house when a heated argument ensued between him and his live-in-partner at 7:30 pm.

Mier, who works as a utility worker of the Tinago barangay hall, reportedly accused him of stealing electrical wirings from her workplace, which irked the suspect.

“Tara na, magkuyog ta sa police station. Tan-awon nato kun naa ba blotter didto na nangawat ko,” was what the victim told the suspect, while grabbing her collar.

Mier then went to the kitchen and took a knife and tried to stab Caballero who eluded her attack.  But as he was about to leave the suspect stabbed him on the back.

Their neighbors took the victim to the Cebu City Medical Center while the suspect went to the Waterfront Police Station to file a complaint against the victim for Violence against Women and Children case.

She was, however, arrested for stabbing the suspect who was treated at the hospital.

The Cebu City Police Office Homicide Section is now handling the case while waiting for the victim’s decision whether or not to pursue a case against his live-in-partner.  — (FREEMAN)
