Bombo may take legal moves vs Capitol
CEBU, Philippines - A radio station threatened to seek legal action against the Cebu Provincial Government if it fails to settle within five days its unpaid obligation of P142,506.
DYMF Bombo Radyo Cebu station officer-in-charge Marchoflix Lucabon yesterday sent another collection letter to acting governor Agnes Magpale.
“We must inform that unless a full payment of your account is arranged within five (5) days from date of this letter, we shall be forced to consider referring your account to our legal counsel for appropriate action,†said Lucabon in his letter.
Lucabon expressed disappointment that his efforts to collect the unpaid obligation amounting to P142,506 has not been acted upon by the present administration.
He said they have already given extension to Capitol to settle its account.
“We are constrained therefore from allowing further delays with respect to payment of your account,†Lucabon said.
Three weeks ago, Bombo Radyo Cebu also asked Magpale for payment. The station reportedly has contract with the Capitol covering July 2012 to December 2012.
A 15-second spot daily is said to be allocated to promote Cebu with Garcia inviting tourists to come and visit the province.
Lucabon earlier said he understands the delay in the payment considering Capitol’s financial difficulties.
When Magpale ordered for a review of the Capitol’s financial status, it was found out that the province does not have sufficient funds to pay for pending obligations.
DyMF Bombo Radyo-Cebu and Kool South Radio Network Radyo Natin FM earlier demanded payment from the Capitol for months of services. Kool South Radio, a Manila Broadcasting Company partner, was asking for payment for its services at P50,000 per month.
The amount is based on the contract signed between the station, represented by planning and marketing manager Romarico Mata, and the Capitol, represented by suspended Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia.
Under the contract, which took effect on June 14, 2012 and will end on June 14 this year, the station will air the one-hour program “Hiniusang Sugbu, Numero Unoâ€, where Garcia’s projects are reported and discussed.
The program is aired simultaneously with Radyo Natin Balamban, Bogo, Cebu and Guihulngan Negros Oriental from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on weekdays.
The rules and trade agreements in the contract are reportedly approved by the Broadcast Media Council and the Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster ng Pilipinas. (FREEMAN)
