CEBU, Philippines - The municipal officials of Medellin in northern Cebu have assured the victory of third district Rep. Pablo John “PJ” Garcia to ensure the continuity of the partnership of the Province and the town for the development of the Cebu Normal University campus.

During the second commencement exercises last week, Vice Mayor Al Lim said that the Municipality of Medellin under the leadership of Mayor Ricardo Ramirez supports the candidacy of Garcia, the brother of suspended Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia who painstakingly assisted the town in building its first tertiary school during her term.

Lim said Pablo John’s victory will ensure the continuity of the partnership of the province and the town for the development of the school which was established in 2008.

Of the 201 graduates, 81 received certificates in Computer Programming and Servicing, 43 graduated with a degree in Tourism Management, and the rest were graduates of education courses. CNU achieved an 84 percent passing rate in last year’s teacher’s board examinations.

Pablo John who is running for governor under One Cebu on May 13 elections delivered his inspirational message to the graduates during the exercises held at the municipal gym.

“Cling to your dream but be willing to let it go if your heart tells you that there is a more fulfilling path for you,” Garcia said.

Garcia said the true meaning of a commencement exercise is the beginning of a new journey characterized not by a roadmap but only “general directions.”

“What their lives would be after today is a mystery, but the fate is where your head, heart and passion is,” he said. He added that there will be failures but they are only “invitations to pause and to reconsider.”

With all their efforts, Pablo John said, they will realize that what really matters in the world are quality human relationships that will never change through the passing of time.

He told the graduates that ultimately, “Somewhere along this journey, you will be called upon to use what you know and what you’re capable of in the service of another for a cause larger than yourself. Only then you will realize that everything happens for a reason.”

Jay Jumar Bacunawa, who graduated cum laude in Tourism Management, said Pablo John’s message was “very inspiring.” He was also very impressed with the credentials of the congressman.

Garcia was introduced by Lim to the audience that included the parents of the graduates, as wells as several hundreds of CNU students.  (FREEMAN)
