Loren launches namesake program
CEBU, Philippines - Senatorial candidate Loren Legarda has launched nationwide her “Livelihood Opportunities to Raise Employment Nationwide (Loren) sa Bawat Barangay Program†to enforce the laws she passed to create livelihood and employment.
Legarda, during her visit to the Mandaue City Public Market last Wednesday afternoon, underscored the importance of convergence among national government agencies in providing livelihood and employment for the people.
She said the Department of Trade and Industry and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority should come together to implement the laws on employment and livelihood.
The program will implement the Public Employment Service Office Act; the Magna Carta for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises; the Barangay Kabuhayan Act and the Agri-Agra Reform Credit Act.
Legarda said she will allocate funds for skills training in the barangays.
Through the PESO Law, jobseekers are given information on available employment opportunities and services in the city or municipality.
Legarda said that she only wants to ensure that the livelihood laws will be fully implemented to benefit the people. — (FREEMAN)
