Man stabbed dead by lover’s husband
CEBU, Philippines - A man who was reportedly having an illicit love affair with a married woman was stabbed dead by the woman’s husband Tuesday at 2:30 in the afternoon in Barangay Anapog, San Remigio.
The victim, in his early 40’s, single and a resident of the said place, sustained fatal stab wounds in his neck and head which caused his immediate death.
He was no longer taken to the hospital after he was declared dead by San Remigio Municipal Health Officer Dr. Orleta Ursal.
The 37-year-old suspect, married, a construction worker and neighbor of the victim, fled on foot right after the incident.
Police only recovered a 12-inch kitchen knife wrapped with a bloody T-shirt owned by the suspect.
Insp. Anecito Manloloyo, San Remigio police chief, said that the suspect received information that his wife was allegedly having an affair with the victim. This prompted him to return home last Monday.
He was working as a laborer at a construction in Cebu City at that time.
The problem between the suspect and the victim was settled on Tuesday morning as they were seen having a drinking session at a sari-sari store several meters away from their house before they were seen walking home.
A few minutes later, children playing near the scene heard the victim shouting for help while gasping for air.
Ursal found three stab wounds in the neck, one in the head and another in the suspect’s right arm.
Manloloyo told The FREEMAN that the wife admitted the affair but she remained clueless as to who informed her husband.
Police are confident they could arrest the suspect with the help of his wife.
“Naay nakakita nga nisakay og tricycle pero duda nako bus gisakyan ato paingon ug Cebu City pero duna na mi lead ug asa kay duna nay paryente sa
siyudad. (Somebody saw him on a tricycle but he might have taken a bus bound for Cebu City. We already have a lead because the suspect has relatives in the city),†Manloloyo said in a phone interview.
The victim’s remains now lies at the Merciful Funeral Homes. — (FREEMAN)
