Wanted person causes suspension of classes

Ria Mae Y. Booc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Classes were suspended at the Naga City Elementary School yesterday noon because of a commotion triggered by the presence of a murder suspect who has been wanted by the police since last week.

The school administration decided to suspend classes for fear of the pupils’ safety after bystanders ran after Danilo Villarico in Barangay Poblacion, Naga City shortly before midday.

Villarico allegedly entered the school premises to fetch his daughter but disguised himself as gay. However, bystanders recognized him and started chasing him.

Members of the Naga City Police, assisted by barangay tanods, joined the chase but Villarico eluded arrest leaving his daughter behind.

Naga City police chief Eduardo Saavedra said Villarico is wanted for robbery with homicide. He has a pending warrant of arrest issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 5 Judge Douglas Marigomen.

Saavedra said that Villarico is also one of the suspects in the killing of Teofilo de Gracia, 65, in Barangay Uling last Saturday.

He was allegedly with Julito Bacaro, 29, of Barangay Balirong, and a certain Gabuya. Bacaro surrendered to Uling Barangay Captain Justino Dakay. He was turned over to the police station where he is currently detained.  De Gracia’s body was dumped into a charcoal pit and covered with dried leaves.

According to the police, Bacaro also has another case for robbery with homicide in Minglanilla. He is also considered as one of the 10 most wanted criminals in Naga City.  (FREEMAN)
