PRO-7 excelled in AGI

Niña G. Sumacot-Abenoja - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines -  With only minor concerns noted, the Police Regional Office 7 has a big chance of being awarded as best among the best regional offices in the country, said a Camp Crame official.

“Very satisfactory iyong performance nila when it comes to operational matters and administrative matters,” said Chief Supt. Sonny Cunanan, the team leader of the Internal Affairs Service Inspection Team who inspected PRO 7.

Cunanan led yesterday’s exit briefing for the Annual General Inspection - Operational Readiness Security Inspection Test and Evaluation that started since Monday.

Cunanan said PRO 7 exceeded the standards and showed a number of best practices worthy of emulation by other police offices.

“Marami silang best practices na ginagawa dito para i-improve iyong police service nila and even programs nila para palakasin ang kampanya for women,” Cunanan added.

With these, PRO 7 can be considered best of the bests in the national level, said Cunanan. For the meantime, Camp Crame will conduct assessment and evaluation before conducting the awarding ceremony.

There were minimal problems noted in PRO 7, though, such as the lack of lots for the construction of their buildings.

“Actually iyong mga problems very minimal lang naman. These problems are not only in region 7 but sa whole country problema natin yan,” the Camp Crame official said.

These problems, he said, are being addressed by the national government and will hopefully be resolved this year.

Aside from best regional office, best provincial and municipal police offices will be recognized, Cunanan further said.

Yesterday, the police offices of Cebu City, Cebu Province, Bohol Province, Negros Oriental Province, Lapu-lapu City, Mandaue City, and Siquijor also garnered “very satisfactory performance” ratings from their respective inspectors from Crame.

Cebu Provincial Police Office, for one, was commended for its numerous best practices that include strategic and proactive deployment of troops, “rigodon” patrol, synchronized checkpoints, expanded night watch, incentive-based rank inspection, monthly hostage situation rehearsal, police Olympics, and shootfest, among others.

Senior Supt. Marlo Meneses, who inspected CPPO, assessed that CPPO, under the leadership of Senior Supt. Patrocinio Comendador, Jr., was fully prepared for the AGI-ORSITE.  (FREEMAN)
