Man caught stealing in aunt’s house

CEBU, Philippines -  A 23-year old man was arrested Wednesday after he got trapped inside the house of his aunt in Barangay Basak-San Nicolas where he tried to steal P25,000 worth of assorted appliances.

Arnold Sabello sneaked inside his aunt’s house at 7:00 pm to steal anything of value. He took an air conditioning unit worth P15,000; gas range worth P7,000, and a computer monitor worth P1,500.

Unknown to Sabello, the police and his aunt, Agnes Sabello, have already placed him under surveillance. The victim, who is living in another house, learned that her house had been burglarized several times by her own nephew.

Agnes reported the incident to the police and decided to set up a trap against the suspect. The victim secretly monitored the house until she caught her nephew sneaking into it last Wednesday evening.

She called the police and caught Sabello inside the house. The suspect tried to hide at the ceiling but was eventually arrested.

The suspect is now detained at the Mambaling Police Station and will face a criminal complaint for robbery.  (FREEMAN)
