CH vows to ban tire supplier
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Bids and Awards Committee head Rolando Ardoza vowed to ban the tire supplier of the city if proven that it is supplying the city with substandard products.
Ardoza, who is also head of the General Services Office of the City Hall, made the assurance after the City Council passed a resolution requesting him to look into the quality of the tire supply following a complaint from Councilor Alvin Arcilla.
The City Council also asked the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to look into the quality of the tires because Arcilla believes that the tires supplied to City Hall are of low quality.
Ardoza wants to inspect the tire used in Arcilla’s city-issued service vehicle that reportedly exploded last December 23. The tire was reportedly new and was only installed to Arcilla’s vehicle a month before it exploded.
Arcilla said the tire could be a surplus but Ardoza said it is impossible since they made inspection when it was delivered by the supplier.
“Ang problema gud diha kay sa bidding dili man kita makabutang sa brand sa ligid nga gusto nato nga paliton mao nga posible nga dili g’yud nimo matandi sa mahalong ligid ang quality sa atong mapalit. (The problem is that we cannot make brand preference during the bidding so it is possible that we get the inferior quality compared to the expensive brands),†Ardoza explained. (FREEMAN)
