Byron, PJ say no to Gwen dancing in Sinulog
CEBU, Philippines - Two brothers of suspended Governor Gwendolyn Garcia do not want her to dance in the Sinulog Grand Parade on Sunday.
Rep. Pablo John Garcia said it would be better for Garcia to stay in the Capitol as they cannot take as a guarantee the statement of Acting Governor Agnes Magpale that Garcia can return to her office after her performance on Sunday.
“I have certain misgivings. It’s up to her but if you ask me, I would rather that she stays here,†Pablo John said.
Garcia’s other brother, Byron, also wants her to stay in her office.
“I strongly advise her not to dance,†Byron said.
Byron, however, said their mother, Esperanza, is in favor of his older sister dancing in the grand parade.
Byron said that their family has varied opinions but they would leave the final decision to his sister.
For her part, Garcia said she appreciates the opinion and support of her family and that she has taken these into account.
She has also made up her mind but prefers not to announce it to the public yet.
Garcia earlier said that if she does not dance, her daughter, Atty. Christina Garcia- Frasco, would possibly dance on her behalf.
Garcia- Frasco said that she would be happy to dance being a devotee of Sto. Niño.
Meanwhile, the suspended governor said the Sinulog should never be made as a political show.
The Liberal Party headed by President Benigno Aquino III was in Cebu last Wednesday where their senatorial candidates were introduced to the people that crowded the Mandaue City Sports Complex.
Presence of the candidates were linked to the upcoming celebration this Sunday where millions of people are expected to flock the city for the celebration.
“That’s sad, very sad because the Sinulog has never been and should never be about politics. It has always been and will always be about our devotion for Sr. Sto Niño,†Garcia said. (FREEMAN)
