CEBU, Philippines - Regional Director Edward Villarta and Assistant Regional Director Lauro Reyes of the National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas (NBI)-7 is leaving the regional office soon.
Reyes confirmed to The FREEMAN that by end of this month, they will be assigned to Davao, wherein Villarta will remain as regional director and he as assistant regional director.
On August 17, 2010, Villarta took over as regional director of NBI-7 and replaced lawyer Medardo de Lemos.
De Lemos was assigned as regional director of NBI-National Capitol Region (NCR).
Reyes said that last Tuesday, they received the special order from their central office for the reshuffling of the regional directors and assistant regional directors in all regions of the country.
Villarta will be replaced by regional director Antonio Pagatpat currently assigned at the NBI Bicol Regional Office (BRO).
Reyes will be replaced by Jose Doloires of North Eastern Mindanao Regional Office (NEMRO).
Reyes said new assignment “is a new challenge to them.â€
So far, he said, the big cases they handled in their assignment to Cebu were the kidnap-slay of Ellah Joy Pique, a six-year-old girl in Minglanilla and the arrest of Asha Atieno Oguto who was convicted for transporting illegal drugs. — (FREEMAN)
