MCWD is also now on its 18th year of providing free water for out-of-towners in the Devotee City located at a vacant lot near the Cebu City entrance of the South Road Properties.

This year, the Devotee City will be set up from Jan. 18 to 22 by the Cebu City Government in cooperation with various agencies including MCWD.

Every year, devotees of the Sto. Niño from different places are expected to flock to Cebu City.  The Cebu City Government thought of putting up the Devotee City to provide shelter to the less privileged devotees, to keep them safe from any untoward incidents and erratic weather and to prevent them from loitering around the city.

It is equipped with sleeping quarters, bathrooms and comfort rooms.  Some donors also provide them with free food. — /MIT (FREEMAN)
