CEBU, Philippines - A school bus driver died of cardiac arrest while being robbed in Barangay Bulacao yesterday morning.
Leonardo Sarabia, 51, resident of Villa Zacate, Barangay Basak-Pardo, was waiting for a ride at 5:00 a.m. yesterday along the South Road Highway when a lone robber came and pointed a gun at him. The incident happened despite a Comelec gun ban.
Sarabia’s wife, Flordelina, said her husband was on his way to report for work as driver of a private school in Lahug. The unidentified robber took the victim’s wallet with an undetermined amount of cash before fleeing on foot.
The victim reportedly collapsed after the incident. Concerned citizens brought to the Cebu City Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival.
Theft and Robbery Section chief Rolando Pinili said the victim’s death certificate shows that he died of cardiac arrest.
Meanwhile, a shipping company lost over P12,000 in burglary when unidentified people broke into its office in Lorega-San Miguel.
Police Officer 3 Romer Varona of the Theft and Robbery Section said that the burglars destroyed the padlocks at the doors of Lapu-Lapu Shipping Lines.
The unidentified thieves forcibly opened the drawer containing the P12,500 cash. The burglary was discovered by the cashier, Andrelou Ochia, 27, when he reported for work yesterday morning.— (FREEMAN)
