Domestic violence kills 1, hurts 3 in Samboan town

Ria Mae Y. Booc - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - What started as a simple domestic problem between a father and his son ended up in a family tragedy at Barangay Suba, Samboan last Monday.

Eduardo Anoling, 55, quarreled with his son Dexter, 28, over the latter’s transfer to a separate house. The argument led to the son’s slitting of his father’s neck and the latter’s stabbing his son twice.

Dexter’s live-in partner Nancy Sena, 35, and cousin, Allen Dugaduga, 23, were also injured for trying to pacify the father and son.

All of them were rushed to Don Mariano Jesus Cuenco Memorial District Hospital in Malabuyoc but Eduardo did not make it alive. The rest of the injured were referred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Senior Police Officer 1 Niel Seno said that the argument between the father and son started when Eduardo confronted his son for transferring a house with his family.

Eduardo was reportedly under the influence of liquor when he got home at around 7:20 p.m. last Monday. Dexter and his live-in partner were having a dinner with their mother, Emilia, when Eduardo arrived and confronted them.

Eduardo got mad and tried to hurt his wife because the latter was blamed for the transfer. Dexter boxed his father while the latter grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed his son twice in the stomach and in the chest.

Despite the stab wounds he suffered, Dexter was also able to grab a knife and slashed his father’s neck.

The mother is not interested to file a criminal complaint against her son who is still confined at the hospital.— (FREEMAN)
