One of most wanted in CV arrested

CEBU, Philippines - One of the most wanted persons in Central Visayas for being one of the suspects in the ambush-slay of seven persons in La Libertad, Negros Oriental in 2007, was arrested in Barangay Maria Cristina, Baloi, Lanao del Norte last Friday.

Fernando “Boy Sanoy” Dorimon, 44, was arrested in a joint operation conducted by the Regional Intelligence Branch, Lanao del Norte Provincial Police Office, and Baloi Municipal Police Station.

Armed with an arrest warrant for multiple murder and multiple frustrated murder issued by Hon. Mario Trinidad, presiding judge of 7th Judicial Region, Branch 64 in Guihulngan, Negros Oriental, operatives arrested Dorimon at his hideout.

Dorimon was monitored by the RID-PRO-9 after receiving reports that he killed several people in Negros Oriental. The information was then sent to the RID-PRO-7 to determine the veracity of said claims.

Operatives found out that Dorimon was involved in the ambush slay of Aya Barangay Captain Lydio Baylon, Rudy Maxilom, Edin Elod, Mitchille Galleposo, Judy Tuble, George Naata and Nonoy Naata.

Also injured in the said incident were Jorlan Baylon, Edencito Beli-ot, Julito de la Cruz, Ignacia Salimbagat, and Amaida Facturan.

The victims were ambushed and killed in Barangay Manluminsag, La Libertad on March 9, 2007 while on board a cobra truck owned by the municipality of La Libertad while heading towards Barangay Aya.

They reportedly came from a two-day seminar conducted by the Department of the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources at the La Limar Beach Resort in Barangay San Jose.

Dorimon admitted his involvement in the crime and said it was Sandalo “Randy” Mongolore, who is detained at the Negros Oriental Provincial Jail, who recruited him in exchange for a huge amount of cash.

“Iyang ingon nako nga kung madayon ang misyon naay kwarta kuno pero walay klaro og pila. (He told me that if the mission pushes through, there will be money but he didn’t say how much),” Dorimon said.

Dorimon was released from the Guihulngan District Jail in 2000 after he was accused of murder.

After committing the crime in La Libertad, Dorimon was reportedly moving from place to place to elude arrest.

He claimed that he wanted to surrender but financial problems did not permit him.

“Plano nako mo-surrender pero wa lang koy plete pabalik og La Libertad, (I wanted to surrender but I didn’t have money for my fare going back to La Libertad),” he said.

Dorimon was sent back to La Libertad yesterday where he will be jailed.

Aside from Mongolore, Wilfredo Arellano, of Barangay Mahulyawon, William Paunilian of Manluminsag, and a certain Tikyo Manait, of Manluminsag were at large. Other members of the group are yet to be identified.

Sr. Supt. Louie Oppus, deputy regional director for operation, said Dorimon was a member of a gun-for-hire group in Negros Oriental. He suspected that the same group might be used in politics during the 2013 election.

“Maningkamot mi nga masugpo ni and we will get all wanted persons in our AOR (Area of Responsibility) hindi na natin hintayin na titira pa sila ulit. (We will try to stop them. We will not wait for them to strike again.)” Oppus said.— /MIT (FREEMAN)
