29 schools join Sinulog sa Kabataan
CEBU, Philippines - Schools in different barangays in Cebu City will clash anew in this year’s Sinulog sa Kabataan on January 12 and 13 at the Cebu City Sports Center.
The Sinulog Foundation said 29 schools will be participating in the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Dakbayan (city) and Lalawigan (province) both in the elementary and secondary division.
Participating in the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Dakba-yan elementary division are the Basak Community School, Cebu City Central School, “TRIBU Mabolokon†Mabolo Elementary School, Guadalupe, Oprra Elementary School, and Regino Mercado Elementary School.
The seven schools in the secondary division include the Inayawan Night High School, Abellana National School, Zapatera National High School, Banay Talambanon of Talamban National High School, Apas National High School, Don Sergio Osmeña Sr. Memorial National High School, and Punta Princessa National High School.
Meanwhile, the contingents in the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan elementary division include the Buanoy Central School, Naga Central Elementary School, Gregoria Milan Memorial Elementary School, Lapu-Lapu City Gov’t – Pajo Elementary School, Talisay City Central School, San Fernando Central School, and Pundok sa Nagkahiusang Danawon – Danao City North.
Banay Mandauehanon, Toledo National Vocational School, Tribu ni Beatriz – Danao City, Cordova National High School – Cordova District, Dumanjug National High School, Division of City of Bogo, Uling National High School – DepEd, City of Naga, Carcar City Division, and Tuburan National High School will be participating in the secondary division.
Last year’s grand champions were Bulacao Community School and Abellana National School.
Bulacao Community School bested six contingents in the elementary division while Abellana National School earned the best contingent title among 10 contingents that competed in the secondary division. Abellana National School also grabbed the Best in Costume award.
Danao City East District and Carcar City emerged as grand champions in the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan elementary and secondary divisions. The two contingents also grabbed the Best in Musicality and Costume Awards.
The contingents were judged based on their actual performance, theme, concept and ritual, choreography, costume and props, and musicality. (FREEMAN)
