Gas station loses P450T in burglary
CEBU, Philippines - A gasoline station in Barangay Poblacion Occidental, Consolacion lost over P400,000 cash and a pistol to unknown person who broke into the shop on Christmas day.
The break-in was discovered yesterday morning by the gas station attendant when it opened the shop at 6:50 a.m.
Deo Salonoy found out that the office of the gas station was already messy when he reported for work. He discovered that the cash box was opened and the P450,000 cash was already missing.
An unlicensed Caliber .45 pistol allegedly owned by the gas station owner, Mitchel Colina, was also missing.
PO2 Rosvelt Matuog, investigator, said the unknown person gained entrance by breaking into the wooden wall at the back of the office.
The still unidentified burglar destroyed the wooden cash box and took the cash and the pistol.
The owner of the gas station is reportedly on vacation at the United States. The gas station was left to Colina’s aunt who is reportedly confined in the hospital.
Matuog said the money was not deposited in the bank because of the holidays.
“Tulo na nila ka-adlaw nga kita pero wala ma-deposit kay sirado man ang bangko,” Matuog said in a phone interview.
The gas station is supposed to have a security guard but abandoned his post without informing the agency.
The police are now reviewing the footage captured by the gas station’s security camera.
