CEBU, Philippines - The Magdalo Sugbu (Cebu) Chapter has abandoned its initial plan to support Team Rama and recently announced it will support the party of its leader, senatoriable Antonio F. Trillanes, who is running under the Liberal Party-Nacionalista Party-National Unity Party (LP-NP-NUP) coalition.
Magdalo Group National Spokesperson Francisco Ashley Acedillo said in a press statement that they are declaring support to the LP-NP-NUP coalition taking cue from President Benigno Aquino III’s declaration of no-free zone in Cebu including Cebu City.
Since their leader is part of the LP-NP-NUP coalition, they are obliged to support the party down to its local candidates.
Acedillo said they will now support the Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan, which is LP’s candidates in Cebu City.
“Among the candidates that the Magdalo Sugbu Chapter are supporting for the May 2013 elections is Cebu City mayoral candidate, Tomas “Tommy” Osmeña, who is running under the Liberal Party-BOPK standard,” Acedillo said.
Earlier, Acedillo was interviewed and told the media their Sugbu Chapter is inclined to support Team Rama.
He earlier said they have supportive of the programs of Mayor Michael Rama since he took office as a mayor.
In his statement, he said the Magdalo group will now campaign for BOPK.
The Magdalo Para sa Pilipino Partylist had been granted accreditation last month.
Acedillo was named one of the nominees to represent the group along with Gary Alejano and Manuel Cabochan.
The Magdalo – Cebu Chapter reported over 1,000 membership in Cebu.
