PB gives Gov. Garcia authority to sell 93-1 lots

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Provincial Board yesterday passed a resolution authorizing Governor Gwendolyn Garcia to execute and sign the memorandum of agreement for the sale of the remaining saleable province-owned lots located in Cebu City to homeowners who are beneficiaries of the Ordinance 93-1.

The resolution, sponsored by PB Member Alex Binghay, chairman of the committee on municipal and provincial properties, authorizes Garcia the sale of the properties to 13 homeowners associations.

Following the authorization was the signing of the agreement between the Province of Cebu and the homeowners associations for the purchase of the lots they are occupying.

The 13 homeowners associations are Sambag Residents Organization HOA; Saint Vincent Residents HOA, Inc.; San Roque HOA, and Ilang-ilang HOA of Barangay Luz; Pagtambayayong HOA in Barangay Tejero; San Isidro Labrador Lower View HOA and Lot 1328 Block 5 Nivel Busay HOA located in Nivel Hills, Barangay Busay; Lokana HOA of Barangay Kalunasan; Lower Nivel Veterans Village HOA and Lahug Agri-Riverside Community HOA of Barangay Lahug; and Lot 982 HOA, Sitio Panabang Neighborhood Association Inc., Sitio Plaza HOA of Barangay Apas.

The agreed price per square meter ranges from P2,133 per square meter for lots located in Barangay Kalunasan to P13,960 square meters for those in Barangay Apas.

With all of them expected to formally seal the deal, the remaining number of 93-1 beneficiaries that are yet to be resolved is down to four homeowners’ associations.

These four homeowners’ associations are Sitio Camagong HOA, Lot 1073-A HOA, Maracas Residents HOA, and La Guerta Hillside HOA, all in Lahug, Cebu City.  Their lots were previously covered by Provincial Ordinance 93-1.

These four homeowners’ associations from Barangay Lahug reportedly have not sent a letter of intent to buy the lots, which the Province of Cebu required of them in a meeting last September.

For those who have manifested their intent to buy, they will be required to comply with the requirements of financing agencies like Pag-ibig Fund, to avail of the low-cost housing program of the government.

The Capitol is selling the lots covered by Ordinance 93-1 to its actual occupants per subdivided block.

The total cost of the lot will be paid in lump sum to the provincial government by the financing agencies, which will in turn collect monthly amortizations from the beneficiaries. —MBG (FREEMAN)
