Orphans get gifts from PAF

PR - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) received early Christmas gifts from the Philippine Air Force early this week.

Social worker Bibiana Horvath personally received the donations from Brigadier General Rene Santos, the wing commander of the 205th tactical helicopter wing, in a brief at the RSCC in Cebu City.

“Indeed, there must be a time for everything and Christmas is a time for giving and sharing our blessings to others. It is rather with the gift of tome and love that we can give especially to those who possess it less,” said Santos.

The in-kind donations given by PAF include powdered milk in cans, baby diapers, vitamins, toys and infant cereal rice.

Horvath, in turn, handed over the donation to Risalina Tatoy, the RSCC head.

“These donations will surely be a big help to our babies who are in dire need of assistance not only this holiday season,” Horvath said.

Horvath appreciated and highly encouraged the men and women of PAF to adopt an orphaned child or be a foster parent.

“Rest assured that while you are incessantly doing your shares in caring and providing the needs of these children, we would continue our commitment in giving our support to your center,” said Santos.

RSCC is the region’s child-caring institution that provides 24-hour services to abandoned, neglected and surrendered children 0-6 years of age.

The primary aim of the center is to provide social protection to uphold the rights and welfare of the vulnerable and disadvantaged children through provision of support and protective services to plan for an alternative family care arrangement or determine appropriate placement for each child.
