CEBU, Philippines - The extended distribution of financial assistance for the senior citizens will resume today until tomorrow and Monday next week.
Phillip Zafra, Mayor Michael Rama’s chief of staff, said the mayor decided to continue the distribution of the remaining P4,000 financial aid for those seniors who have not claimed last Saturday.
Zafra said the barangays which have the most number of unclaimed benefits will be given priority. He said the rest of the barangays will be advised to come on Monday.
According to Zafra, Barangay Guadalupe has the most number of senior citizens who have not claimed their financial assistance. Based on the record there are still over 600 seniors in Guadalupe who have not claimed their share.
Zafra said one disbursing officer is assigned for every 50 beneficiaries to avoid chaos. He said that all systems are now in place for the resumption of the distribution. Meanwhile, the city government has promised to give burial assistance to the family of Candelaria Quijada who died after claiming her benefit last Saturday in Guadalupe.
South district Rep. Tomas Osmeña earlier donated a coffin for Quijada from his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF). — (FREEMAN)
