CEBU, Philippines - Over 1,000 job applicants have participated in the local jobs fair recently held by the Public Employment Service Office- Capitol at the Cebu International Convention Center.

Capitol consultant on labor market information Dr. Mathea Baguia said a total of 1, 450 applicants trooped to CICC last December 2 and 133 of them were hired on the spot.

“It was a successful event,” Baguia said.

Most of those hired on the spot are in Metro Cebu because of the Christmas season. Maguia said there were 33 companies participated in the jobs fair.

Baguia said they were expecting high percentage of hiring on the spot because of the simple requirements of the companies.

The applicants were only required to undergo medical examination and final interview.

Those applicants who have brought medical certificates with them were automatically hired by Cebu Mitsumi, Inc., GGC Services, Inc., Metro Gaisano, P.J Lhuillier group of companies and SM supermarket-Cebu.

There were also 163 participants who availed of the one stop shop services given by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), National Statistics Office (NSO), Phil-Health Insurance, Social Security System (SSS) and Medical Team (First Aide) during the said event.

PESO is eyeing to conduct the local job fair and international job fair in March next year.
