One Cebu “invades” another LP turf

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and One Cebu candidates yesterday invaded another turf of the Liberal Party.

Garcia and the One Cebu candidates conducted free medical-dental mission in the mountain barangays of Tuburan, whose mayor, Democrito Diamante Jr., belongs to LP.

The activity was held at the public market of Barangay Montealegre, some 17 kilometers away from the national highway which benefitted residents from its neighboring barangays.

Glen Tirado, a nurse of the Provincial Health Office, bared that as of lunchtime, they already have served more than 300 patients. They also distributed medicines.

Garcia, gubernatorial bet and third district Rep. Pablo John “PJ” Garcia, and his runningmate, former Danao City vice mayor Ramon “Boboy” Durano IV, were welcomed by former Tuburan mayor Rose Gerona Suezo.

Montealegre barangay captain Matildo Paglinawan and some councilors allied with Diamante also welcomed the Garcias before the hundreds of residents.

It was the first time that Gov. Garcia has stepped into the barangay.

Paglinawan visited the governor’s office last Tuesday to claim a financial assistance for his barangay.

Garcia said that Paglinawan was very happy about her visit saying that it was the opportunity for him to show to the governor some dilapidated portion of the public market.

Garcia asked Paglinawan to visit her office again so that he could be assisted by the Capitol engineers regarding the improvement of the public market.

The governor also promised to help bring in water pipes from their main source to their households.

PJ reminded how he and his sister have helped the people of Tuburan during the diarrhea outbreak few months ago of which his office and the governor shouldered the hospital expenses of the patients.

In order to continue the services that she has started, Gov. Garcia asked the people to support her bid for congressman in the third district, PJ and Durano tandem and the rest of One Cebu bets in Tuburan.

“I am hopeful that I will win as the first congresswoman in the third district,” Gov. Garcia said.—(FREEMAN)
