Three dead, six hurt in various accidents
CEBU, Philippines - Three persons, including a Frenchman, were killed while six others were injured in three separate vehicular accidents in the towns of Argao and Moalboal as well as in the City of Carcar last Monday.
In Barangay Poblacion, Argao, a deliveryman died after his motorcycle collided with a six-wheeler delivery van around 1:20 p.m. on the National Highway.
Froilan Caminade, 24, of Barangay Bulasa, was taken to the Isidro Kintanar Memorial Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Now detained at the Argao stockade is Jame Decinan, 35, of Cebu City, the driver of the Isuzu Forward truck with license plate numbers YAW-114 owned by Dranix Distributors Inc. based in Cebu City.
PO2 Brian Yosores of the Argao Police Station said Decinan was heading towards Barangay Poblacion from Sibonga town delivering assorted products while Caminade was traveling home from Barangay Bogo on board his Rusi motorcycle without a license plate number.
Caminade reportedly failed to notice Decinan who suddenly executed a left turn heading towards a Caltex gasoline station.
Yosores said Caminade stepped on his brakes but hit the right side of the van.
“Klaro kaayo ang 44 feet nga skid marks sa dalan pero tungod sa kakusog sa impact patay gyud siya,” police said.
Decinan is set to be released from the stockade today as the family of the victim decided not to file a case against him in exchange for paying the burial expenses.
Four hours later, a Frenchman died after the motorcycle he was driving hit an Isuzu Elf parked on the National Highway in Barangay Poblacion, Moalboal.
Samuel Linais, 48, temporarily residing in Barangay Basdiot, was driving his Honda Wave when he hit the truck driven by Jose S. Bonggat Jr., 35, of Tondo, Manila, with license plate numbers RLK-603.
Police said Linais was heading to Barangay Poblacion when he suddenly overtook two bicycle riders he was tailing. Linais lost control of the motorcycle and hit the Isuzu Elf.
He was rushed to the Badian District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Bonggat was temporarily held by the police but was released a few hours later after both parties amicably settled the matter.
Meanwhile, another vehicle figured in an accident leaving one dead and six others injured on the National Highway of Sitio Kaawa, Barangay Perrelos, Carcar City around 10:30 p.m.
Of the seven victims on board the Toyota L300 with license plate number GKZ-993 only Gomersendo Laluna, 40, of Barangay Papan, Sibonga, died upon reaching the Carcar Provincial Hospital.
Those who were injured and taken to the same hospital were Valben Blanco, 19; Jeren Estomago, 20; Junrel Blanco, 23; Ivan Gorgonia, 19; Artemio Laluna, 35; and the driver, Pedro Carcallas Jr., 35, all from Sibonga town.

Upon reaching an intersection of the said place an unknown vehicle suddenly crossed the road which Carcallas successfully evaded, but he lost control and the vehicle hit the road railings.
Due to the strong impact, all seven victims suffered injuries but only Gomersendo did not make it to the hospital alive. –(FREEMAN)
