Couple loses P250T to robbers

CEBU, Philippines - A couple lost their P250,000 cash to six unidentified robbers in Barangay Balud, San Fernando last Wednesday morning.

Fernando Gimena, 55, and his wife Erlinda, 58, of Oslob town were on their way to Cebu City to buy stocks for their convenience store when the robbers blocked their Isuzu Elf.

PO1 Janel Figura of the San Fernando Police Station said the robbers, on board three motorcycles, overtook the victims’ vehicle and flagged them down.

One of the robbers demanded the vehicle’s key from the driver, Pablito Vequezo, 51, of Barangay Tangke, Naga City, while the others pointed their guns at the couple and demanded the money.

The six robbers were allegedly armed with .357 revolver, Caliber .45 pistol and Ingram machine pistol.

One of the robbers was heard saying “mao ni part giingon ni Lucio”.

Figura said that as a matter of procedure the driver of the couple will be included in the investigation. The driver is said to have been working for the couple for more than 10 years already.

“Posible dili jud nila kaila ang mga tulisan kay wala man gyud nagtaptap unya kining Lucio maoy taga-Oslob tingale maoy kontak sa mga suspek. (It is possible that the robbers are not known to the victims because they did not hide their faces. A certain Lucio could be the robbers’ contact in Oslob),” Figura said. — (FREEMAN)
