DENR meets with contractors to ensure survey success
CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Environment and Natural Resources- 7 through the Lands Management Services (LMS) organized a one-day regional conference with cadastral survey contractors to discuss the extent of implementation of the cadastral survey project in Region 7.
DENR-7 Executive Director Isabelo Montejo said DENR is closely monitoring the contractors to ensure that the survey is completed on time.
The discussion with 20 survey contractors tackled issues and problems encountered in the field, as well as “possible recommendations and doable solutions” to the problems. The discussion was led by LMS Regional Technical Director Dr. Diana Apistar.
“DENR Secretary Ramon JP Paje has given us a tall order to speed up and complete the cadastral survey as it is supportive to the government’s various projects such as land titling, land use planning, taxation and internal revenue allotment (IRA) program for the different municipalities and cities nationwide,” Montejo said in a statement.
Apistar, meanwhile, reiterated the need to provide data or information from the contractors on the number of cadastral points, and political boundary points established, and area surveyed in hectares.
Cadastral survey is a survey made of extensive areas covering an entire municipality or city consisting of several or many parcels of land undertaken for the purpose of land registration.
In Central Visayas, the DENR 7 cadastral survey project intends to cover about 73,661 hec-tares with an estimated cost of P164.09 million.
Montejo said the cadastral survey program is instrumental in efficient patent distribution and accelerating countryside development. — (FREEMAN)
