CEBU, Philippines - Of 310 participating local government units, San Remigio’s Community Electronic Center (CeC) bagged 11 major awards during the 8th Knowledge Exchange Conference on Community eCenters in Apo View Hotel, Davao City, last week.
First, the San Remigio CeC was recognized as one of the 2012 innovators for its pioneering effort to innovate and produce unique services to its community through its work on the Wireless Wide Area Network which successfully brought Internet connectivity to its barangays.
Second, it was being showcased and served as a model site for the new batch of CeC managers during the Essentials on CeC Management Training.
Third was for its commendable performance in demonstrating the effective utilization and communications technology for community growth and development.
Fourth, San Remigio CeC is recognized for its contribution and support rendered during the 2012 National ICT Month Celebrations.
Fifth, the National Computer Center – Field Operation Office and the Philippine Community eCenter Network, Inc., recognized and acknowledged the San Remigio eCenter, as center for excellence in ICT-Enable Content Development for Community eCenters, in the subject areas of Livelihood, Entrepreneurship and Tourism and for its pioneering effort in community-based participatory content development using information and technologies.
It was also recognized as the main training provider for community eCenters for developing content on Livelihood Entrepreneurship and Tourism.
Sixth, it was appreciated for participating in the Marketplace of Ideas at the 8th Knowledge Exchange Conference.
Seventh, the San Remigio Community eCenter was a finalist of the 3rd Philippines CeC Excellence Awards.
It is entitled to receive a computer unit as part of the equipment grant provided to all finalists of the awards.
Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator, Engr. Romarico Cabellon received the eighth, and the highest Philippine CeC Excellence Awards for his outstanding performance as a CeC manager.
The Information and Technology Office through the NCC awarded Cabellon a Certificate of Scholarship which entitles him to full scholarship to the Community Development Training for Community eCenter managers from Nov. 19 to 23, 2012.
Cabellon also received 3rd Philippine CeC Excellence Awards for extraordinary contribution to the growth and advancement of the municipality of San Remigio and its constituents through the innovative and highly effective utilization of ICT and for achieving the potential that ICT has for community empowerment and transformation.
Cabellon was also recognized as the Most Outstanding CeC manager of the Philippines for 2012 while Mayor Jay Olivar was recognized as the Chief Executive Champion for CeC Manager of the Philippines for 2012 for championing development and transformation through the innovative utilization of ICT and for the answeringsupportextraordinary to each Community eCenter which have properly it to perform at its utmost best in service to the municipality and its people.
