CEBU, Philippines - Provincial Board ex-officio member Aladin Wilyamie Caminero is now in the intensive care unit while his three friends and two others were taken to a hospital for the injuries they sustained in a vehicular accident at the national highway of Barangay Binlod, Argao yesterday morning.
Caminero, who sits at the Board being Sangguniang Kabataan Provincial Federation president, is the 19-year-old son of Provincial Board Member and second district congressional aspirantWilfredo Caminero.
Argao Police Station investigator SPO3 Ramuel Banogon said the SK president and his three friends were onboard a Ford Everest traveling from Barangay Poblacion to Barangay Taloot when Caminero accidentally sideswept 13-year-old Christian Zamora who was walking along the road.
Caminero then swerved right, hitting the Hyundai Starex driven by 41-year-old Celrick Paul Redoña of Peace Valley, Lahug, Cebu City. Redoña was about to park the vehicle at their garage.
The impact caused the Ford Everest to fall on its side and hit a tree, causing injuries to SK President Caminero and his friends. They were first taken to the Argao District Hospital before they were rushed to a hospital in Cebu City.
PB Member Wilfredo Caminero told The FREEMAN yesterday afternoon that doctors are monitoring a blood clot in his son’s head.
“Hopefully ma-okay na siya,” Caminero said in a phone interview. (I hope he’s going to be okay soon.)
He added that his son’s three friends suffered bone fractures and contusions. They are Michael Vincent Mansueto, 22; Joeal Mendoza, 22, all of Barangay Poblacion, Argao and Clint Bryan Pelayo, 26, of Barangay Lamacan.
In another accident reported, two minors died and three were injured when two motorcycles collided in Bogo City.
Ernesto Alburo, 15, and Ralph Vincent Gelig, 16, both of Barangay Nailon, Bogo City died after the motorcycle they were riding on collided with another motorcycle while traveling on the national highway of Sitio Looc of the said barangay a few minutes after midnight yesterday.
After the collision, Alburo and Gelig’s bodies were slammed against an Isuzu pick up parked along the road. They were rushed to the Bogo Provincial Hospital but they did not get there alive.
Injured was Erwin Duhaylungsod, 21, of Barangay Gairan, Joel Balunan, 30, of Barangay Nailon, and a certain Ariel, of Palompon, Leyte. They were taken to the same hospital but were referred to the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for further treatment.
Chief Insp. Ceferino Tabay, Bogo City police chief, said Alburo and Gelig were on board a Sniper motorcycle (4513GT) heading towards Barangay Nailon from Barangay Gairan.
Those who were injured were also on board a Haojie motorcycle and were moving from the opposite direction when the incident happened.
Tabay said the two motorcycles crashed at a curve. He added that drivers of the two motorcycles did not have a license with them.
Police are now waiting for the relatives of the fatalities to appear for the filing of charges against Duhaylungsod. — /JPM (FREEMAN)
