More "yellow taxi" drivers seek NLRC help
CEBU, Philippines - Five more “yellow taxi” drivers filed an illegal termination case against the Cebu City Airport Taxi Operators Inc. before the National Labor Relations Commission-Regional Arbitration Board yesterday.
This developed as the concerned taxi drivers denied tampering their taxi units.
“Dili na tinuod. Impossible na nga e-tamper na namo, (That’s not true. It is impossible for us to tamper our taxi meters.)” said Milbert Nicanor, one of the taxi drivers who filed a case yesterday.
Earlier, CCATOI president Richard Cabucos said that these drivers were not fired but were merely not allowed to drive their respective units after they failed to remit their daily rental. Cabucos said these drivers were disgruntled after the management learned that the drivers tampered their taxi meters. The management were reportedly alarmed by the alleged tampering of taxi meters.
Nelson Rebleza, the first one to file a case the other day, also denied such allegations. Cabucos however assured that all their 60 yellow taxi units have normal meters now.
