Nerissa gets One Cebu nomination
CEBU, Philippines - Former sixth district representative Nerissa Soon-Ruiz yesterday confirmed that she will be running against incumbent congressman Gabriel Luis Quisumbing.
She revealed that she and former Mandaue City councilor Elmer Cabahug have already received their certificate of nomination from One Cebu Party president Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia.
Cabahug will be running for a seat in the Provincial Board.
Soon-Ruiz yesterday said she decided to run for congress under One Cebu so she can help in the candidacy of third district representative Pablo John Garcia who will be running for governor.
“Mas molig-on man gyud ang kandidatura ni PJ kon naa ko modagan. Mas lahi ra man gyud nang mag-campaign manager lang ta,” Soon-Ruiz said .
Soon-Ruiz earlier assured to get more votes for Pablo John in the sixth district.
She added she also decided to run to give better services to the people of her district.
“Mi-complain sila ug mikomparar nga lahi ra dyud daw ang serbisyo sa atong panahon,” Soon-Ruiz said.
Quisumbing filed his certificate of candidacy yesterday morning at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Provincial Office.
Quisumbing was accompanied by Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, Consolacion Mayor Teresita Alegado and Cordova Mayor Adelino Sitoy.
In Mandaue City, no local candidates have filed their COCs as of yesterday according to Mandaue City Election Officer Anna Fluer Gujilde.
She said that she only received a call from the camp of Cortes informing her that their slate will file their COCs on Friday. (FREEMAN)
