CEBU, Philippines - A radio station owned by Bogo City Mayor Celestino Martinez Jr. lost an estimated P85,000 worth of copper wire to theft.
The reported theft incident was first discovered by a caretaker of a fishpond near the transmitter of DYCM in Barangay Taytayan, Bogo City.
Elmundo Mapait, 43, told the radio station management that he saw an unidentified person stealing copper wire at the back of the station’s transmitter.
The radio station management immediately checked on the information and found out that a total of 1,872 meters of copper wire was already stolen by unidentified thief.
Police Officer 3 James Susvilla said that the stolen wires is estimated to be worth P84,240.
“Duda ko dugay nana gihinay-hinayan og putol pero bag-o lang nasakpan. (I believe that the pilferage has been going on),” Susvilla said in a phone interview.
The police said that there was no security guard assigned at the radio station. It also did not have a closed-circuit television camera that would help the police identify the culprit. (FREEMAN)
