For drainage masterplan, MCDCB asks P120M from PNoy, Metro Cebu body soon to be Regional Development Council member
CEBU, Philippines - The Metro Cebu Development and Coordinating Board (MCDCB) passed a resolution yesterday asking President Benigno Aquino III to allocate P120 million for the integrated drainage masterplan of Metro Cebu.
MCDCB will also have a seat in the Regional Development Council (RDC) soon.
During its quarterly meeting yesterday, Roberto Aboitiz, MCDCB co-chairman reported that RDC is set to approve and confirm MCDCB’s membership.
Since Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia who chairs MCDCB is already a voting member, Aboitiz is likely to represent the MCDCB to the RDC-7.
MCDCB will be a special non-voting member in the RDC as endorsed by the Development Administration Committee of RDC 7.
It will also have a seat in the RDC sectoral committees for the term September 2012 to June 2013.
The four sectoral committees of the RDC likewise passed resolutions approving the membership of MCDCB in the social development committee, economic development committee, infrastructure development committee and development administration committee.
MCDCB earlier passed a resolution requesting technical assistance from the Central Office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the preparation of an integrated drainage masterplan for Mega Cebu.
The said resolution was also endorsed RDC.
In his report, Engr. Fortunato Sanchez Jr., the head of the MCDCB Research, Program and Organizational Development (RPOD), said that DPWH 7 regional director Ador Canlas informed them that Secretary Rogelio Singson already agreed to provide funds for the project.
This prompted Consolacion Mayor Teresa Alegado to move for the passage of a resolution requesting the funds from the Office of the President. — (FREEMAN)
