CEBU, Philippines - It’s still either Cebu City Rep. Rachel “Cutie” del Mar or her father, Raul, who will be running under the Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan for the north district next year.
Cutie yesterday said the public has yet to find out “on the day that we will file.” But she said they have “actually decided” who will run but refused to give more details.
She admitted, however, that she already got her certificate of nomination from the Liberal Party, and that her father’s may be coming soon. She said that with the many certificates of nominations to make, those for the incumbents are always prepared first.
She also dismissed the earlier statement of Cebu City south district Rep. Tomas Osmeña, hinting that he will pick her father as he is more experienced. Cutie said the statement did not mean BOPK has already given its support to her father.
What will happen when they file their certificate of candidacy next month will be a “surprise to everyone” she said.
Cutie was in town yesterday for the inauguration of the Center for Unified Training in Industry and Employment, a training facility in the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority compound. She donated at least P2 million from her priority development and assistance fund for the one-story building.
In her speech, she said this new training center will have computer system courtesy of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The system will allow online registration and submission of resumes from job applicants for their convenience.
The facility will also train future call center agents, through the help of call centers like Qualfon Phils., with the assurance to hire the graduates. Qualfon recruitment manager Grace Lañoso said they will hire about 50 percent from the first batch of graduates.
The idea for the training center was hatched about two years ago by Cutie’s father, Raul, but only finished and opened during her term.
Efren Valiente of the CCCI said the center, which is expected to produce more skilled workers, will be a “good driver” for Cebu’s economic growth. (FREEMAN)
