LP not fielding bets vs Gullases
CEBU, Philippines - Both Cebu first district Rep. Eduardo “Eddiegul” Gullas and Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas may be on their way to a full three-year term as Talisay mayor and Cebu first district representative, respectively, after learning that the Liberal Party will not be fielding any candidates in 2013 the next year’s mid-term election in their respective positions.
It was LP Provincial District Chairman Hilario “Junjun” Davide III who confirmed they will not be fielding any candidates against the Gullases.
“No candidates for Talisay City mayor and Congress,” Davide said.
Davide also confirmed that San Fernando Mayor Abe Canoy will be seeking reelection and withdrew his earlier plan to challenge Samsam.
Davide also said they have not yet completed the slate in the first district to challenge the incumbent mayors that belong to the Alayon Party, which is headed by Gullas.
The first district encompasses the southern cities of Talisay, Carcar and Naga and the towns of Minglanilla, Sibonga and San Fernando.
Samsam, 27, the eldest son of Gerald Anthony “Didi” Gullas, will be the successor of Rep. Gullas, who is on his third and last term as congressman. Eddiegul will be running for mayor of Talisay City.
Samsam graduated summa cum laude of his class in the Center for International Education in 2009 and finished a degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Management.
He serves as team manager of the University of the Visayas Green Lancers basketball team and is also the assistant vice president for finance and administration of the Gullas-owned university.
Rep. Gullas said the decision to field Samsam was agreed by Alayon Party members and the Gullas family.
