3 gas station staff 'steal' P2.5M
CEBU, Philippines - Three employees of a gasoline station were charged with qualified theft for allegedly stealing the proceeds that amounted to P2.5 million.
Gas station supervisor Cliffer Paler, 23; cashier Kathleen Kate Bantiles, 22, and pump boy Jemmil Noval, 28, allegedly started to manipulate the sales of the gas station in August 2010, just two months since it opened.
SPO3 Roy Susvilla, Consolacion police investigator, said a concerned citizen sent a text message to Allan Varga, owner of GV’s New Lacion Gas Station, to inform him of the modus operandi of the three employees.
Varga immediately paid a surprise visit and found out that they manipulated the actual calibration of the fuel pump as well as the sales report of the gasoline station.
The three reportedly admitted when Varga questioned them and even returned part of the money that they took.
Susvilla said Bantiles returned P10,000 while Noval surrendered P17,000. Paler did not return anything as he sent the money to his family in Leyte.
Varga plans to close the gasoline station within this month. (FREEMAN)
