CEBU, Philippines - The Bureau of Immigration-Cebu will have its “Immigration Service Day” starting next week in line with the agency’s new program.
BI Commissioner Ricardo David, Jr. in his Memorandum Order stated that the said program is being instituted wherein concerned BI sub-ports offices shall render an extend authorized immigration services to all concerned for at least one working day every week in each of its respective area/areas identified by the agency and during major cultural, religious festival, fiesta and founding anniversary celebrations in the province/city/towns where the BI sub-ports is located.
In line with the memorandum order, BI-Cebu alien control officer (ACO) Casimero Madarang III said that an “Immigration Service Day” will kick off next week. The venue is still has to be identified.
“We will still evaluate, which place and when because we still have to coordinate with the different local government units in Cebu,” Madarang said.
The scope of the immigration services under this program shall include the presently and regularly extended and rendered by the ACOs in their respective area of responsibility.
The order added that concerned ACOs shall make representations with the provincial/city/municipal government units in their identified service area to obtain free of costs and charges, suitable and adequate space, together with appropriate office furniture, fixtures and equipment, strategically located within the provincial capitol, city hall or municipal hall that would serve as an “Immigration Service Desk”.
It added that concerned ACO shall choose which work day of the week to conduct the service day.
ACOs are likewise directed to submit a weekly report to the commissioner of all the immigration services rendered in their respective service area. (FREEMAN)
